These Easy Football-Shaped Buffalo Chicken Dip Bites are handheld, adorable, and disappear faster than anything else on the snack table. They combine a creamy, spicy buffalo chicken filling wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough, shaped like footballs for a fun game day treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup cooked shredded chicken
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup buffalo wing sauce
  • 1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 cup crumbled blue cheese (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside.
  2. Make the buffalo chicken filling. In a medium mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded chicken, buffalo wing sauce, shredded cheddar, blue cheese (if using), garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix everything together until it’s well combined and creamy.
  3. Prepare the crescent roll dough. Unroll the crescent roll dough onto a clean work surface. Separate it along the perforated lines so you have 8 triangles.
  4. Shape the footballs. Take one triangle of dough and place about 1 tablespoon of the filling in the center. Fold the dough over the filling, pinching the edges to seal. Then, gently shape it into an oval football shape with your hands, tapering the ends slightly. Repeat with the remaining dough and filling.
  5. Arrange on the baking sheet. Place the shaped footballs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each one.
  6. Brush with melted butter. In a small bowl, melt the butter. Using a pastry brush, lightly brush the top of each football with melted butter.
  7. Bake for 12-15 minutes. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake until the footballs are golden brown and puffed up.
  8. Cool slightly before serving. Let them rest on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack if you have one. Serve warm with extra buffalo sauce, ranch dressing, or blue cheese dressing on the side for dipping.

Notes

For best results, use full-fat cream cheese softened to room temperature. If dough gets too warm, refrigerate for 5 minutes. Seal edges with water for a stronger seal. Can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated; add 2-3 minutes to baking time if baking from cold.
