  • ½ teaspoon salt (sea salt or kosher salt preferred)
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Trim and prep the asparagus by snapping or cutting off the woody ends. Rinse under cold water and pat dry thoroughly.
  2. Place asparagus in a mixing bowl. Drizzle with 1 to 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, sprinkle ½ teaspoon garlic powder (if using), ½ teaspoon salt, and a few grinds of black pepper. Toss well to coat evenly.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for about 3 minutes.
  4. Arrange asparagus spears in a single layer in the air fryer basket to avoid overcrowding.
  5. Air fry for 7 minutes, then flip the spears using tongs. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes until edges are slightly charred and crisp but spears remain tender inside.
  6. Immediately after cooking, sprinkle ½ cup of freshly grated Parmesan evenly over the hot asparagus to create a delicate, snowy crust.
  7. Zest one medium lemon directly over the asparagus for a bright, fresh aroma and flavor.
  8. Serve immediately to enjoy the crisp texture.

Pat asparagus dry thoroughly before cooking to ensure crispiness. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket to prevent steaming. Use freshly grated Parmesan for best melting and flavor.
