A quick and easy recipe for perfectly crispy air fryer hot dogs with a juicy interior, ready in just 5 minutes. Ideal for busy days, casual gatherings, or a nostalgic snack.

Ingredients

  • Hot dogs (regular or beef, about 6-8 ounces each)
  • Hot dog buns (soft, fresh; brioche buns optional)
  • Cooking spray or oil (vegetable or avocado oil)
  • Optional toppings: yellow mustard, ketchup, relish, diced onions, shredded cheese, jalapeños or pickles

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let it heat up for about 3 minutes.
  2. Lightly spray each hot dog with cooking spray to encourage crisping. Optionally, slice shallow diagonal cuts on the skin.
  3. Place 3-4 hot dogs in a single layer in the air fryer basket without crowding.
  4. Air fry for 5 minutes at 400°F (200°C), flipping the hot dogs halfway through (around 2.5 minutes) using tongs.
  5. Optionally, spray the insides of the buns lightly with oil and place them in the air fryer for the last 1-2 minutes to toast.
  6. Transfer hot dogs to buns, add your favorite toppings, and serve immediately.

Notes

Preheat the air fryer to ensure crispy skin. Lightly spray hot dogs with oil for best crunch. Flip halfway through cooking for even browning. Avoid overcrowding the basket. Toast buns optionally for extra flavor. Reheat leftovers in the air fryer at 350°F for 2-3 minutes to maintain crispiness. Frozen hot dogs can be cooked by adding 1-2 minutes to cooking time.
