A fun and easy Halloween snack featuring cream cheese-stuffed jalapeño poppers wrapped in flaky crescent roll dough to create a crispy, mummy-like treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • About 12 pre-made cream cheese-stuffed jalapeño poppers (frozen or fresh)
  • 1 can (8 oz / 227 g) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • ½ cup (56 g) shredded sharp cheddar or Monterey Jack cheese
  • Optional: pinch of smoked paprika or garlic powder
  • 1 egg beaten with 1 tbsp water (egg wash, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate into rectangles. Slice each rectangle into thin strips about ¼ inch (0.6 cm) wide.
  3. Wrap each jalapeño popper with the crescent dough strips, leaving small gaps to create a mummy look. Patch any tears with extra dough strips.
  4. Place wrapped poppers on the baking sheet spaced evenly. Brush each lightly with egg wash.
  5. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top of each popper and dust with paprika or garlic powder if desired.
  6. Bake for 15-18 minutes until dough is golden brown and cheese is bubbling. For frozen poppers, bake 20-22 minutes, checking often.
  7. Let poppers cool on a cooling rack for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

If dough is sticky, chill for 5 minutes before slicing. Egg wash is optional but gives a golden finish. Watch oven closely to avoid burning. Can prep and refrigerate wrapped poppers up to 4 hours before baking. Leftovers keep well refrigerated for 3 days; reheat in oven at 350°F for 8-10 minutes to maintain crispiness. Microwave not recommended.
