easy dump peach cobbler - featured image

A quick and simple peach cobbler using canned peaches and butter cake mix, perfect for last-minute desserts and busy weeknights. This recipe delivers a golden, buttery crust with juicy peaches in under 45 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 can (29 oz / 822 g) peach slices in juice or light syrup (drain slightly if you want less liquid)
  • 1 box (15.25 oz / 432 g) butter cake mix
  • ½ cup (113 g) unsalted butter, sliced into thin pats
  • Optional: ½ teaspoon cinnamon
  • Optional: 1 cup (100 g) chopped pecans or walnuts

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Drain the canned peaches lightly. Stir in cinnamon and nuts if using.
  3. Pour peaches evenly into the baking dish, spreading gently to keep some juicy pockets.
  4. Sprinkle the entire surface with the dry butter cake mix evenly; do not mix.
  5. Dot the top with pats of butter evenly across the surface.
  6. Bake uncovered for 40 to 45 minutes until the topping is golden brown and crispy and juices are bubbly around the edges. Tent with foil for the last 10 minutes if the top browns too fast.
  7. Let the cobbler rest for about 10 minutes before serving to thicken the juices.

Notes

Drain peaches moderately to avoid soggy topping. Use fresh peaches in season but increase baking time slightly. Butter pats are essential for a crispy, golden crust. Tent with foil if topping browns too quickly. Can be made gluten-free or vegan with substitutions. Leftovers store well refrigerated for 3 days or frozen for up to 2 months.
