A fun, spooky, and easy-to-assemble charcuterie board featuring sharp cheddar cheese dyed orange, candy corn, and savory snacks. Perfect for Halloween parties or last-minute gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 large wedge or block of sharp cheddar cheese
  • Gel food coloring (orange)
  • 1 box assorted crackers (water crackers, wheat crackers, or pretzel crisps)
  • 12 bags candy corn
  • 1 package thin-cut pepperoni slices
  • 1 pint green grapes
  • 1 small jar black olives (sliced)
  • 2 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Gala), sliced
  • 1/2 cup walnuts or pecans
  • 1 bag pretzel sticks
  • Lemon juice (for apples)
  • Water or olive oil (for mixing food coloring)

Instructions

  1. Prep the cheese: Cut the cheddar wedge into manageable chunks. Mix a small amount of gel food coloring with a teaspoon of water or olive oil to create a paste. Rub this paste onto one cheese chunk until it is vibrant orange. Set aside.
  2. Prep the fruit and veggies: Wash and dry the grapes. Slice the apples into thin wedges and dip them in lemon juice to prevent browning. Slice the black olives in half lengthwise.
  3. Arrange the base: Place small bowls on the large charcuterie board. Fill one with candy corn, another with olives, and leave a third empty for dips or extra snacks.
  4. Add the crackers and pretzels: Fan out the crackers around the edges of the board. Place pretzel sticks in small bundles or lines to create structure.
  5. Place the cheese: Place the large intact cheddar wedge in the center or slightly off-center. Arrange the orange-dyed cheese chunk next to it and place other cheese chunks around the board.
  6. Add the pepperoni: Lay pepperoni slices around the board, rolling them up or laying them flat to add color and texture.
  7. Fill in the gaps: Scatter grapes, apple slices, and nuts in the empty spaces. Get creative by making small ‘faces’ or ‘monsters’ with the ingredients.
  8. Final touches: Add piles of candy corn directly to the board. Add plastic spiders or bats if desired. Serve immediately.
