These fresh patriotic fruit skewers paired with a zesty honey lime dip are a quick, colorful, and healthy snack perfect for summer parties and celebrations.

Ingredients

  • Strawberries, hulled and halved
  • Blueberries, fresh and firm
  • Cantaloupe or honeydew melon, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • Seedless red grapes, halved
  • Fresh pineapple chunks (optional)
  • Honey (preferably raw, local honey)
  • Fresh lime juice (about 2 tablespoons)
  • Lime zest (from one lime)
  • Greek yogurt or plain yogurt (about ½ cup)
  • A pinch of sea salt

Instructions

  1. Wash all berries and grapes thoroughly. Hull and halve the strawberries, halve the grapes, and cube the melon and pineapple into roughly 1-inch pieces. Keep fruit pieces uniform in size for even threading.
  2. In a small mixing bowl, combine ½ cup Greek yogurt, 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice, 1 tablespoon honey, lime zest from one lime, and a pinch of sea salt. Whisk until smooth and creamy. Adjust sweetness or tang as needed.
  3. Thread the fruit onto wooden or bamboo skewers in a patriotic pattern, alternating colors and leaving a little space between pieces to avoid squishing.
  4. Chill the skewers for up to an hour before serving or serve immediately with the honey lime dip on the side.

Notes

Use firm, ripe fruit to avoid mushy skewers. Pat fruit dry after washing to help dip stick better. Assemble skewers just before serving to prevent sogginess. For vegan dip, substitute Greek yogurt with coconut or almond yogurt and honey with maple syrup. Fresh lime zest is key for best flavor. Store leftover skewers and dip separately in airtight containers; skewers keep up to 24 hours, dip 2-3 days.
