A quick and spooky Halloween snack featuring hot dogs stuffed with cheese and wrapped in crescent roll dough to resemble mummies. These savory treats are easy to make, crowd-pleasing, and perfect for parties.

Ingredients

  • Hot dogs (beef or turkey)
  • Crescent roll dough (refrigerated)
  • Shredded cheese (sharp cheddar or mozzarella)
  • Black olives (sliced, for eyes)
  • Egg wash (optional: beaten egg with milk)
  • Butter (melted, for brushing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pat hot dogs dry with a paper towel and use a small knife to make a shallow slit down the length of each hot dog without cutting all the way through.
  3. Stuff a generous handful of shredded cheese into the slit of each hot dog, pressing gently to secure.
  4. Unroll crescent roll dough and separate into triangles, then cut each triangle in half lengthwise to create long strips.
  5. Wrap a dough strip around each stuffed hot dog in a spiral, leaving a small gap at the top for the face.
  6. Place two small slices of black olive on the exposed dough at the top to create eyes, pressing gently to adhere.
  7. Brush the dough lightly with egg wash or melted butter if desired.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the dough is golden brown and puffy.
  9. Remove from oven and let cool for 1-2 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Pat hot dogs dry to prevent soggy dough. Use fresh-shredded cheese for better melting. Do not wrap dough too tightly to allow for expansion. Can be assembled up to 24 hours in advance and refrigerated before baking. Reheat in oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes to restore crispiness.
