Spooky Halloween Brownie Tombstones - featured image

A quick, no-bake Halloween treat made from chocolate, cookies, and cream cheese, shaped like tombstones and decorated with white chocolate. Perfect for last-minute parties or trick-or-treating.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (175g) Dark or Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 2 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 2 ounces (50g) Cream Cheese, softened (optional but recommended)
  • 1 ½ cups (approx. 150g) Crushed Cookies (e.g., Oreos)
  • ½ cup (85g) White Chocolate Chips
  • Black Food Coloring Gel
  • Mini Chocolate Chips or Black Sprinkles (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and butter. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, stir, then microwave for another 15 seconds if needed until smooth. Do not overheat.
  2. If using cream cheese, add it to the warm chocolate mixture and stir vigorously until smooth and incorporated.
  3. Crush cookies into fine crumbs using a rolling pin or heavy pan. Pour crumbs into the chocolate mixture and stir until fully coated and a thick dough forms.
  4. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 20 minutes to firm up the fats.
  5. Remove dough from fridge. Scoop about 1 tablespoon per tombstone, roll into a ball, flatten slightly, and shape one end into a rounded arch. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  6. In a clean bowl, melt white chocolate chips in 15-second intervals, stirring between each. Add black gel food coloring drop by drop until dark gray or black.
  7. Dip each brownie tombstone halfway into the colored white chocolate using a fork. Let excess drip off and place back on the baking sheet.
  8. While the white chocolate is wet, write ‘R.I.P.’ or draw a cross using a toothpick or mini chocolate chips.
  9. Place the baking sheet in the freezer for at least 15 minutes until the chocolate is completely hard. Transfer to an airtight container.

Notes

Ensure hands are dry to prevent chocolate from seizing. Use gel food coloring, not liquid, to maintain texture. For gluten-free options, use certified gluten-free cookies. For dairy-free, substitute butter and cream cheese with coconut oil and dairy-free alternatives. Store in the refrigerator for up to one week.
